Dr Thiri Aung-Holebrook
Emergency Medicine Specialist MB BCh BAO FACEM
Dr Aung-Holebrook has spent much of the last decade as an Emergency Medicine Physician at Auckland Hospital. She thrives on the pace and pressure of a big city ED but she also knows what it’s like to care for acutely unwell/trauma patients without the resources and support of a tertiary hospital. Dr Aung-Holebrook previously worked as an Emergency Medicine Physician on the Auckland Rescue Helicopter where she performed critical interventions and advanced treatment at the scene of emergencies. Prior to her work with the Helicopter Trust, Dr Aung-Holebrook held a postdoctoral research fellowship at the USA’s National Institute of Health. This Burmese-born doctor has lived and studied in Singapore, Ireland, the US and Australia. But it was here in Aotearoa where she returned to specialise in Emergency Medicine. Outside of her fast-paced and varied work, Dr Aung-Holebrook relishes in keeping physically fit and has competed in triathlon and Ironman races. Precious downtime is spent on the land, with her husband, tending to their lifestyle block.
