Dr Karina Walters

Dr Walters gained a PhD in biochemistry before embarking on her medical career. She was educated in Texas where she also trained as an Emergency Medicine Specialist. During the course of her medical degree and emergency medicine residency she completed rotations in both Australia and Costa Rica. Dr Walters worked in a busy urban emergency department (ED) in Texas for 17 years before moving to New Zealand in 2018. Here in Aotearoa, she settled in Taranaki - where she continues to serve as an ED physician and teacher to the next generation of doctors. Outside of medicine, Dr Walters enjoys soccer, pilates, pickleball and fishing.
