
Dr Jenni Hawes
Emergency Medicine SpecialistMBChB BSc(Hons) FACEM
Originally from the UK, Dr Hawes moved to New Zealand in 2010. At that time, she already had several years’ experience working in UK hospitals under her belt. She gained a Bachelor of Science (with honours) majoring in Anatomy in 2003 and completed her medical degree from the University of Leeds in 2005. Here in Aotearoa, she has worked in Palmerston North, Christchurch, Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin. Dr Hawes went on to complete her Emergency Medicine Fellowship in 2021 and will shortly complete another Fellowship in Intensive Care. She has worked in several pre-hospital settings as well as general and tertiary hospitals. Dr Hawes has developed special interests in paediatrics, the overlap of emergency and intensive care medicine, staff wellbeing, and simulation training. Outside of medicine, she enjoys sports – including skiing, SCUBA, hiking and yoga – and relaxes with piano and reading.
