Dr David Haunschmidt

Originally from Scotland, Dr Haunschmidt gained his medical degree in Edinburgh and worked around Glasgow for several years before coming to New Zealand in 2016. He has worked in several central and lower North Island hospitals and has continued on a path of continuous education here in Aotearoa. Dr Haunschmidt is now a Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) and specialises in adult and paediatric emergency care. He has a special interest in point of care ultrasound and is the Co-clinical lead in ultrasound medicine at Hutt Hospital Emergency Department. Dr Haunschmidt is also a successful trail runner and triathlete. He holds numerous national titles (and course records) across half-marathon to 60k ultra-marathon trial running events and has twice qualified for the Ironman World Championships. In addition to endurance sport, Dr Haunschmidt loves to travel and seek out new experiences around the World.
