Originally from the United States, Dr Dobbins relocated to Aotearoa in 2013 and has served as an Emergency Medicine Consultant at a tertiary teaching hospital here ever since. He has been a Fellow of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) for a decade and is also certified with the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the Wilderness Medicine Institute. Dr Dobbins takes an active interest in physician and medical student education (he is a house officer and med student supervisor and educator) and he’s concerned with patient flow through the ED and physician wellness. He is also a Trustee and Clinical Co-Lead of Sepsis Trust NZ. Throughout his career, Dr Dobbins has enjoyed bringing his medical expertise outside of the hospital environ and has provided medical support to numerous sporting events and wilderness responses. Outside of medicine, he enjoys body surfing, paddleboarding, hiking, exploring new places with his daughters, and photography.
